ÍY SȻÁĆEL (Good Day) Sidney Families,
The students and staff at Sidney would like to say HÍSW̱ḴE (thank you) for the PAC’s support of our local artist in residence this past winter. Sarah Jim is an emerging W̱SÁNEĆ artist from the Tseycum First Nation. She has worked with our school this past year and shared her knowledge and passion for local plants and place-based learning. She has created a stunning birch round painted with local, native, plants inspired by our Sidney school garden. At the center of the round is our Sidney bee or SEMSEMIYE (bumblebee) with Coast Salish art elements incorporated. Our round is now hanging in the front foyer of the school. Please see the pictures below and attached.
