Hello Sidney Families,

Please see the information below regarding class placement for the 2021-2022 school year.

Once the projected school organization for the next school year has been drafted based on known enrollment information, classes are developed through meetings involving your child's present teacher(s), the learning assistance/integration support teacher, the vice-principal and principal.

Each child's placement is thoughtfully determined by taking into consideration the following factors (not listed in order of importance):

* school organizational requirements (class size limits, etc.)

* social/emotional strengths and needs

* workable instructional and social groupings

* intellectual strengths and academic learning needs

* leadership

* behavioral needs

Every effort will be made to place children in the best situation academically, socially and emotionally in the larger context of the needs of all of the children. Information provided by parents is shared and considered at these meetings, however, final placement decisions are the school's responsibility. If you would like to provide us with additional information to consider in planning the placement of your child, please request a parent input form from Ms Rankin at trankin@saanichschools.ca. These forms can be submitted via email or they can be returned to the school.  

Note: Specific teacher requests will not be considered.

Note: All class placements are tentative until September. Even slight changes in enrollment can lead to the need for significant changes in school organization, class lists and teacher assignments. Therefore, class placement information will remain confidential and cannot be shared with families until confirmed in September.
