Dear Sidney School Families,

Since Night League basketball really doesn't start until about Grade 5, SPABA (Saanich Peninsula Amateur Basketball Association) is trying to get younger kids involved, to stoke that fire and love of the game even earlier! To that end, they are running a 1-hour session on Sunday May 5th at Sidney Elementary school from 3pm-4pm specifically for the children at Sidney Elementary. They intend to keep it a relatively small group - maximum of 25-30 kids or so - run by some of their current coaches as well as former local high school players so that each child gets some individual attention. Focus is on fitness and fun, with the first 45-50 minutes or so being skills and drills followed by a short controlled scrimmage (for the older kids, at least). Children will be in groups of similar age/grade.

As a promotion for this session, each child will get a T-shirt and their own basketball (to keep!). Cost will be $10 a child.

SPABA has previously run 3 of these sessions on the Peninsula and some Sidney Elementary children may have attended them, but they are more than welcome to attend this session as well. If they do not want a ball/T-shirt, just let them know when you register and cost will be $5.

For more information or to register, please email ERIC ROWE (SPABA Coaching Coordinator) at

Registration will be taken on a first come/first serve basis.
