Orange Shirt Day - Friday, Sept 22
Orange Shirt Day is taking place across the country on September 30th. Sidney Elementary's Orange Shirt Day will be taking place on Friday, Sept. 22. Students and staff are encourage to wear orange on Friday.
People are wearing orange shirts to remember the
experiences of former students of Indian Residential Schools and to
commit to ongoing reconciliation. Orange Shirt Day is a reminder of
the time a former student who had her own orange shirt taken from her
by the residential school, only to see another child wearing it days
later. The objective of this day is to aid in the healing and
reconciliation process to create a better future for generations to
come.
